When I began the Professional Writer's Connection forum and this companion blog, I truly thought I could make them into helpful resources for writers. The challenge, however, is the lack of necessary time to create something in a market that is already filled with many great online resources. More agents and editors are blogging, and it has become easier to connect with them thanks to social media. The offer fabulous advice on a regular basis.
Therefore, I have decided to discontinue this blog. It will remain online for a while, but it may eventually be deleted. I hope you found these posts interesting and helpful.
Wishing all my fellow writers a prosperous journey.

Morgan Mandel posted a great article with an outline of steps for setting up a book launch party. It's superb information if you are considering one. It goes step-by-step along with when you need to perform each task. You can read it at http://bloodredpencil.blogspot.com/2012/04/are-book-launch-parties-worth-it.html

Books & Such Literary Agency's blog has shared such a neat and new way to use Facebook for publicity, that I just had to share it. Check out this post at http://www.booksandsuch.biz/blog/facebook-as-publicity/ and let me know what you think.

I happened upon an article today at Angela Scott's Writing & Whimsy blog. She had read an article that claimed writers choose a pen name so they can produce less than good writing. I won't get into that debate, but I was curious about the motivations for those of us who have opted to use a pen name.
Little Shepherd was published under my married name, but when my next book comes out this fall, it will be under the name of C.C. Gevry (my two initials and my maiden name). I didn't want to muddy the waters of my "faith-filled journeys for kids" brand by publishing a secular book under my married name. I am creating a separate online presence for C.C. Gevry too, even though many people know it's me.
Why did you choose a pen name? Is your pen name a reflection on a family name?

Over at the Books & Such Literary Agency blog, agent Rachel Kent is discussing books that will soon be turned into films; what makes them good books, why they are being turned into films, why they are popular, etc.
Don't miss the discussion. It's very informative.
